We’ve all been asking for this for years. Finally, it seems… we’ll get it. Now, they said sometime in late August, but elsewhere in the update they said by the end of the year. Which is it?
Here’s Knock Squared with the best video about it.
I can see this being a very good thing. But, it depends on how it’s used, after the roll-out. Will “Clips” be available via the Maschine hardware? Will we be able to enter midi notes directly into the Arrangement from the hardware? Time will tell.
But, very good news. Although very LATE news.
I’m sure a lot of you saw MPC Beats by Akai. Free, and you can use any midi controller with it… as everything’s mappable. You get 8 MIDI tracks and 2 audio tracks, which is enough to do a lot with.
I’m still trying to get the download email for it… Akai still hasn’t gotten the email to me. I signed up like 4 times with different email addresses.
It looks pretty cool… but with Maschine’s new addition coming… I’m not sure how it can hold up.
It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Akai, by any means. Bought hardware by them that always had something wrong with it (pads double-triggering, pads acting weird… USB ports going bad), etc. The only thing I own is the Akai Fire, which I use with Ableton via scripting. Pretty cool controller. But in general, I am not a fan of Akai and never have been. All hype and marketing, with them.
The original MPC was dope. But that’s it. After 2009 when all the “new” Akai stuff came out including the MPC Ren (where’d THAT go?) etc…. nah.
But, I’d still love to be able to try MPC Beats, with my Maschine controllers.. and see what’s doin’…. could be good and fun. Ultimately, though… I’m looking forward to this Maschine update. What do you think?
