I met James Cuartero (aka That Dream Was Our Life) in May 2017, when I hosted my second house show in the Philly burbs. He’s played my house a few times… and I’d love to host him again, and especially as the headliner / main act, which he wasn’t been (yet!).
I discovered his music randomly a few years ago and absolutely loved it (and still do). I would consider him a major influence on my songwriting style. I love this kind of stuff.. gentle indie-folk… sometimes with drums, sometimes without… unassuming vocals, never reaching way up or sounding try-too-hard… just perfect for the music and perfect for the arrangements. To say I’m one of his biggest fans would be a huge understatement.
He is extremely prolific… has 37 releases on Bandcamp… mostly EPs, as that’s his preferred method of releasing music. Just flawless.
I’m listening to him non-stop today, so I had to feature him on the Underrated Music section of my site.
A lot of people might not know who he is, on a large scale… but he is just fantastic and deserves more listeners.
Here’s his three latest releases via Bandcamp (all from 2020):
Jan 2020 (full-length album)
Feb 2020 (EP)
May 2020 (EP)
