I made this video in 2013, as I was learning about Maschine and Reaper.

During the past few weeks, I’ve updated the Templates to serve different purposes… and everything is more tightly-integrated, and works even better than before! Please note the Reaper Actions assigned in this video are VASTLY improved… see my other videos right here on this site in the “SONGWRITING/RECORDING TIPS” section for more details… and, more videos coming soon!

1st Way
Like in this video– Groups A and B are Maschine kits (customize to your liking), C D and E are melodic instruments (Bass, Rhodes piano, Strings), and Groups F G and H are for sample chopping.

2nd Way
4 Kits, 4 groups of sample chops

2nd Way (with Launchpad X)
4 Kits (play one at a time from the Maschine controller), and 4 groups of 64 simultaneous sample chops on the 8×8 Launchpad X grid! (while you’re finger-drumming). (Requires a Launchpad X Custom midi map file)

3rd Way
4 Kits, 4 melodic instruments (and if you have a Launchpad X, or Launchpad Pro, Push 2, etc (using the DrivenByMoss script) you can easily have the LPs or Push 2 routed to those tracks, so you can easily input melodies via the Scale modes.

4th Way
2 Kits, 6 melodic instruments (and if you have a Launchpad X, or Launchpad Pro, Push 2, etc (using the DrivenByMoss script) you can easily have the LPs or Push 2 routed to those tracks, so you can easily input melodies via the Scale modes.

5th Way
2 groups of sample chops, but record directly into Reaper without changing Maschine into “MIDI / Controller Mode”. This is great for super-quick sample-chopping, and playing them right into the single Maschine plugin track (recording MIDI output)

6th Way
2 groups of sample chops, with two separate instances of Maschine. Record directly into Reaper without changing Maschine into “MIDI / Controller Mode”, like above. Switch the instances from the Maschine controller (SHIFT + PLUG-IN)… chop quickly, record quickly into a single Maschine plugin track (includes Reaper track routing so you know which one is going where).

More to come! Happy New Year!

Spread the love!
