This shit reminds me of why I became a musician in the first place, and taught myself music theory in 2003 (summer to the end of the year). The albums that made me want to learn and teach myself, primarily… The Album Leaf’s One Day I’ll Be On Time (2001), Archive’s Londinium (1996), Tristeza’s Dream Signals In Full Circles (2000), Ben Lee’s Something To Remember Me By (1997), and Azure Ray’s self-titled album (2000).
This video demonstrates the magic of everything. And the jam he does with Herbie at the end… isn’t even technically amazing (no speed… just chord harmony/voice-leading). Genius.
