Been fighting depression for weeks. Just saw this begin on HBO. Always, the perfect movies on cable, at the perfect moment in one’s life.
The Hours tells a story of three women from three different generations (the earliest, the brilliant author Virginia Woolf). The other two women are somewhat connected to Virginia Woolf, even decades later, through Woolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway. They’re each fighting their own personal demons.
Put simply– The Hours is one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen, but my god, is it one of my favorites. Give it a full shot, and it might become one of your favorites, too. The casting is flawless, the score is heavy/emotional, and the development is through the roof….. unreal, and perfect.
