Brief summary:

One of the most underrated Tom Hanks/Leo Dicaprio films, ever. Directed by Steven Spielberg, but much like The Color Purple, many people have no idea that Spielberg directed this masterpiece.

Great (and true) story about a guy, Leo DiCaprio (I’m not going to say his character’s name, as you might google it and spoil the film for yourself), who is intelligent and creative as hell, and figures out a way to forge official paychecks from various sources, by posing as legit employees. Tom Hanks is the detective who’s onto the guy… and suspects more is going on than what he (and seemingly everyone else) is seeing with his own eyes.

Superb acting, heartwarming and heartbreaking, great music (John Williams, hello?), and great cinematography. A film that is constantly on-point and entertaining. Great supporting roles from Amy Adams, Martin Sheen, and Christopher Walken, too.

This (as many others, including Romeo and Juliet, and The Basketball Diaries) should have been the film that landed DiCaprio his first Oscar. Superb in every way. Don’t sleep on it, if you’ve never seen it. It is watchable more than once, for sure.
